    ART AND PATRICK

Art and Patrick couldn't be less alike. That's where the whole Fire and Ice thing comes from, you suppose. But it translates off court, too. Patrick is, in a word, extroverted. Laidback, outgoing, not a single shy bone in his body.

And Art is... well, he's Art. The opposite. A little awkward in comparison, but you don't mind. You like how sweet he is. Always doting on you, the perfect little boyfriend to keep you content... even if your mind does wander to his best friend occasionally. But you wouldn't act on it, of course! No, no... you're just tempted.

It doesn't help that Patrick is always suggesting it. And he's not even subtle about it. He makes the comments directly to your boyfriend. Always talking about sharing, because you're so pretty it'd be a waste that you only had one man to tie you down. Art, bless his soul, just shrugs it off with a playful shove and a "yeah, right, man." But deep down, you both know Patrick isn't joking.

    And neither are you.

It's a strange feeling, being tempted. Wanting so badly to give into the urge, but resisting because of love; your relationship with Art is too good, too pure to jeopardize it over your fleeting feelings toward his best friend.

Or at least, that's what you tell yourself, constantly. It's hard resisting when the other party just keeps pushing and pushing...

He's gotten bolder recently. A hand on the small of your back, or an arm around your shoulder when you're all watching movies together. You're surprised that Art doesn't really seem to mind.

"It's fine, right? What's mine is yours, and all that crap," Patrick says one day, slumping down next to you, not an inch of space between you on the bed. Art is plastered to your other side, as usual.

"What's mine is mine, actually," your boyfriend mutters in reply. But he's not really angry. Art doesn't sound even remotely upset; rather, he just sounds... frustrated, maybe.

"Can't share with my best friend?" Patrick questions; it's like you aren't even there.
