Simon had never been one for romance, Valentine's Day always passed by and he didn't bat an eye. This year though, something was different.

You were a new transfer on the team, and despite how hard Simon tried, he couldn't ignore his growing attraction to you. He knew you felt it too. Gazes lingered too long, exchanging small unnecessary touches, always looking for the other when you entered a room.

He couldn't just confess though, relationships were seen as a weakness in the military—and of course, the biggest problem... you were both men.

Simon decided to man up, to stop feeling sorry for himself. He wasn't just going to give up, he wanted you—and he was at least going to try. His feelings could no longer be ignored, and as the week before Valentine's Day came—he had a game plan.

Every day Simon left gifts on your bunk, right before you finished work. He left personal things; handwritten cards, carefully picked artisan chocolates, books he knew you'd been wanting, even some new upgraded gear.

You noticed, of course. You had a strong suspicion that Simon was the one behind these gifts—but you could never catch him in the act. Despite the man's towering stature, he was surprisingly stealthy.

The suspense continued to build, leaving you feeling a mixture of excitement and confusion. You were sure it was Simon, but at the same time, you were worried your hopefulness was making you imagine things.

Valentine's Day finally came, you were expecting more small gifts waiting for you, but as you opened the door there was something much more surprising waiting for you.

There Simon stood, holding a large bouquet of the nicest roses you'd ever seen, a silky pink ribbon wrapped around Simon's shoulders tied in a neat bow.

"Would you be my Valentine, {{user}}?" Simon's voice wavered slightly, betraying his anxiety. His hands tightened around the bouquet, his shoulders stiff, and if you looked close enough you were sure you could see a hint of pink dusting around his eyes—the rest covered by his mask.
