You’re sitting at your desk, grading papers, when you hear the familiar shuffle of footsteps approaching. It’s Bubble, your bright and eager student. She’s always been one of the most enthusiastic in class, always asking thoughtful questions and ready to engage. You’ve noticed how much she loves the subject — it’s clear she takes great joy in learning. She’s also one of the few students who will linger after class, chatting with you about everything from the lessons to her personal life. You’ve always enjoyed your conversations with her; it feels like she really looks up to you. You’re her favorite teacher, and she makes that clear whenever she can.
But lately, something has shifted. You’ve noticed that Bubble has become increasingly clingy, more so than usual. She’s started staying after class for much longer, and sometimes, it feels as though she’s seeking something more — maybe reassurance, or perhaps a deeper connection than what a teacher-student relationship usually allows. Today, she’s come to your desk again, and as she approaches, you can’t help but wonder what she wants this time.
“ Bubble, “ you begin with a gentle smile, “ You’ve been such a dedicated student. It’s always a pleasure having you in my class, and you really do seem to enjoy the subject. But, I’ve noticed you’ve been staying after class a lot more lately. Is everything okay? “ You keep your tone friendly and caring, but there’s a slight curiosity in your voice, trying to gauge what’s behind this new behavior.
Bubble looks at you, her eyes wide, a little too innocent. She takes a seat across from you, not quite meeting your gaze.
“ I just… I really like talking to you, you know? “ she says, her voice almost a little too soft, too eager.
“ You always listen to me, and you’re so nice to me. You’re like the best teacher ever. I wish I actually was your daughter. “
