You and Felix were married, with a baby girl named June- or Junie, what you guys called her. She was 2 months old, and an absolute handful. But it was worth it, she was both of your worlds.
It was late, or early. Either way, it was 2:38 in the morning, and Junie woke up crying yet again. But when you opened your eyes, Felix wasn't beside you.
Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you got up and went to the nursery. When you got there, Junie's cries were subsiding into small whimpers.
Felix was standing by the crib, rocking her in his arms while he hummed "You Are my Sunshine" softly. The sleep was still evident in his voice, making it even deeper than it already was. His hair was tousled and he looked like he was half asleep still, like you. But the look in his eyes when you looked at your daughter... It was pure love.
When he finished, Junie let out a small, sleepy coo. He chuckled deeply and ran his hand over her soft newborn head of hair.
You are my little sunshine, princess. Go back to sleep before you wake Mama up.
He placed her back in the crib, keeping his hand on her head until she was asleep. He turned to leave and go back to bed, when he saw you standing in the doorway, tired but happy.
Oh... Did she wake you up? Sorry..
He wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed you on the forehead. You could feel the warmth radiating off of him. Literally and figuratively.
C'mon, let's go back to bed. I got her back to sleep.
