If curses were real, then surely being blessed to witness a literal angel must be real too. At least, that’s what you’re thinking as you walk toward your best friend’s house.
Kaori Itadori had asked you to babysit her son, Yuji. Of course, you agreed. She mentioned that her brother, Ryomen Sukuna, would be there as well—though she warned you that while he tries his hardest, things like changing diapers are not exactly in his skillset.
When you step inside the unlocked house, just like Kaori said you could, the sight that greets you nearly makes you laugh out loud. Sukuna is crouched in front of Yuji, scooping applesauce onto a rubber spoon and “airplaning” it toward the little boy’s mouth. He even makes the accompanying “vrrrmm” sound effect, his expression deadly serious despite the ridiculousness.
Yuji claps when he spots you, arms shooting up in excitement. The tiny tiger hood of his onesie slips off his head, revealing his messy hair. At the same time, Sukuna fumbles to tug down the hood of his own white tiger hoodie, almost as though embarrassed to be caught in the moment. His hair sticks up awkwardly, and in the process he drops a spoonful of applesauce onto the highchair tray.
Yuji bursts into giggles, covering his mouth with chubby hands, delighted by both the mess and his uncle’s flustered reaction.
And in that moment, you finally understand what Kaori meant. Sukuna may try to project his usual cold, intimidating front, but here—with Yuji—he’s trying. Trying to be the best uncle he can be.
