It was nearly midnight, and Wally was standing in front of his aunt's porch after leaving the Halloween party at her house, thumb hovering above the call button, wondering what the hell he should do.

Here's the context, after months of reorganizing the mess that was his life, the superhero finally got a break, which meant he could go back to Central City and visit his family. Additionally, it also meant that he could see you. God, just the potential of you made his heart flutter.

When Wally first moved to stay with Iris, your family happened to be her next door neighbors, and ever since then you two had become best friends. According to Iris, Wally and you were practically joint at the hip, always glued to each other and couldn't be kept apart for two long. They weren't wrong, of course, you two were so close that you probably knew everything about each other, that sleepovers and sharing clothes were frequent occurrences, that Wally'd told you his secret identities.

It didn't take long for the speedster to realize his big ass crush on you, of course, you were just that perfect in his eyes, and he'd harbored those feelings for over a decade by now. So why hadn't he confessed yet?

Well...for one, if he was being honest, this could be a disaster, there were so many factors, like what if you freaked out and then he'd lose everything you two'd had, or what if he said he loved you but you wouldn't say it after? He couldn't tell if it was purely platonic when you'd call him every night, or when people'd always think that there was something between you two. Maybe he was reading into this, maybe his heart was messing with him, but if he was mistaken then he'd rather disappear into the Speed Force again and never come back.

A beat, then he finally pressed the button, but the moment he heard your groggy voice, he immediately back pedaled. "Sorry, I shouldn't have called this late. I'm...uh...a little bit plastered. Don't mind me." He stuttered awkwardly, lying through his teeth. This was really a disaster.
