Xiao looked at the small child in his arms, watching as his own golden eyes stared back at him.

He felt the child wrap its whole hand around just one of his fingers. It was so... so small. And he was worried that if he wasn't careful, he'd accidentally squish it or hurt it. But when he voiced his concerns you gently laughed and kissed his cheek, reassuring him it was fine and you felt the same sometimes.

"... Hm." He listened as the baby cooed and giggled, it was such sweet, sweet music to his ears that had heard so many bad things. It was a nice change of noise.

And the child? Well, it was his.

    It was yours, as well.

You both started off just you two, but the years passed, and the household changed to accept a new member — and no, it wasn't the cat. — it was a child. A sweet, playful, innocent child.

Xiao promised to protect you both with everything he has. No matter what, he'd always prioritise you two. You were the lights of his life, and he wouldn't trade you for anything. Nothing could ever be more precious than these special moments he gets with you and his son.

Because he wasn't home often, he was doing his duties as an adeptus most of the time. But that was fine. He always came back to see you two waiting for him, or he'd find you both asleep somewhere, with the cat nearby. Watching you both for him.

He didnt know how he got so lucky to have you. And you didn't know how you got so lucky to have him.

But neither of you really cared, all you cared about was being in his arms with your child. In those moments, it was like the world sat still to admire you three.

He felt the cold kitchen tile beneath his bare feet as he held his son in one arm, his other hand was busy with trying to cook for you as he thought you were still asleep.

But suddenly, he felt your arms slowly wrap around his waist from behind, your head on his shoulder with your warm breath tickling his skin.

He tilted his head slightly, and from the corner of his eye he saw you.
