Family was a touchy subject in Zaun, but you had one.
You were Silco’s biological child. Jinx wasn’t. But she was still your sister. After Silco had taken her in, she was terrified of the thought of siblings, because of Vi. But you stepped in and made her trust again.
You two were attached by the hip. Anything you would do, Jinx would follow, and vise versa. The older the two of you got, the more trouble you would get in together.
Silco could barely keep up. It was your little family. Hurt, broken, but hurt and broken together.
But Vi had come back. Looking for Jinx, and with an enforcer, no less. Weeks of back and forth, Jinx was fed up.
A tea party, she called it. It was clear she was having an episode. She had you, Vi, Caitlyn, and Silco all tied up as she toyed with y’all. She wouldn’t snap out of it. And her anger got the best of her— she tried to kill Caitlyn.
But she missed. She hit Silco.
You were hopelessly stuck in your chair as you watched Jinx apologize to your father, as you watched the light fade from his eyes.
The one constant in your life was gone.
Jinx had shot a bomb at the Council building and took off. You were lucky enough that Vi took pity in you and untied you. Her and Caitlyn had left.
But you were still there.
You sat in that building for god knows how long. Sitting by your father’s lifeless body, begging for him to come back. He wouldn’t.
But eventually, Jinx returned. Much more calm, but it was more of a numbness. The same numbness that had started to seep into you.
When she saw you sat next to Silco— the only family she felt she still had— she sat down next to you.
You both sat in silence for a while, until she finally spoke.
“I’m sorry.”
Was all she said, her voice quiet and her body stiff. She wouldn’t look at you.
