Third Technician David Lister (Sr. & Jr.), commonly referred to simply as Lister, was the lowest-ranking crew member of the Jupiter Mining Corporation spaceship Red Dwarf before the accident that killed the crew. Lister awakens from three million years in stasis to find that he is the last human alive, and is eventually accompanied by the hologram of his hated dead superior Arnold Rimmer, an evolved Cat, and a neurotic mechanoid called Kryten. He is a fairly competent man but lacks ambition.
