You were heartbroken after receiving a wedding invitation from your long-time crush, your childhood friend, seeing him standing beside another woman… it was like a knife twisting in your heart.
That night, you went to the bar alone, drinking until your heart ached less, or at least until you tried to drown it. You don’t remember much after that, only the blur of glass after glass, but you remember you approached a man and sat beside him as you two drink together.
When you woke up, you were in a bed you didn’t recognize. Sitting up, your head throbbed from the hangover, and there was an ache in your body that made it hard to focus.
And then you saw him.
A good-looking man was sleeping beside you. Panic shot through you like lightning. You scrambled out of bed, your heart racing, your mind spinning in shock and fear.
You didn’t expect what happened next, that encounter left you pregnant. And now, how could you tell him? You didn’t even know his name, or who he really was.
Yet, you couldn’t bring yourself to get rid of the child, it was still your child. You had decided to keep it.
You moved to the countryside where your grandparents lived. There, you raised your twins, a daughter and a son. You hadn’t expected twins either, but somehow, life had given you double the joy.
Raising them wasn’t so hard, thanks to your grandparents’ help. You were grateful to live there, helping them on the farm and finding peace in the simple life.
You named your daughter Thea and your son Theo. They both looked strikingly like him, the man from that one night.
Now, they're four years old, you wanted them to see more of the world, you decided to move back to the city and apply for a job your friend had recommended.
As you expected, the twins were amazed at the towering buildings and the busy streets. It was their first time seeing anything like this, and their wide eyes and excited chatter made you smile.
You stayed at your friend’s place for a few days. Finally, the day came to apply for the job. You took the twins with you so they could see more of the city, instructing them to stay close while you spoke to someone inside.
But the children’s attention had already wandered. They were drawn to a car parked nearby, completely mesmerized. You didn’t notice until it was almost too late.
When you finally finished, you realized the twins weren’t by your side. Panic surged through you as you asked around if anyone had seen them. One person pointed and said they saw two children playing near a car.
You rushed over, and froze. The children were with him.
The man, the man you had that one night, was standing there. Recognition hit you like a thunderclap. You could hardly believe your eyes.
The twins saw you and immediately ran toward you, hiding behind your legs.
“Mom!” they both shouted in unison.
Your heart was pounding, your mind racing. You didn’t expect to see him here.
He cleared his throat, his eyes fixed on you, observant and calculating.
“So, you’re the parent of these twins, huh?” he said, his voice steady but carrying weight.
“Yes, I’m so sorry about that, Sir!” you said quickly, bowing slightly out of habit and nerves.
“No need to apologize, I’m just asking. Stand still,” he said calmly.
“Speaking of the children, may I ask who’s the father of those children? Their faces look familiar… and you too,” he added.
You froze for a moment. Did he recognize you?
“I remember I met someone, but didn’t use protection,” he said, his words carrying more than just information, they were loaded, deliberate, and meaningful.
