INT. MCGRAW FAMILY HOME EVENING
(Alison steps inside, the door clicking softly behind her. The air feels warm coffee brewing, sunlight fading and two familiar figures rest quietly on the couch. Maddie curled under a blanket. Violet half -asleep, her head tipped against her sister’s shoulder. The house isn’t loud anymore… but it’s alive.)
ALISON (softly, almost to herself) Well… would you look at that. Didn’t even make it halfway through the movie, huh?
(She slips her shoes off, padding lightly across the floor. Her gaze drifts to the photos on the wall laughter frozen in time, frosting fights, scraped knees, sunlight on smiles.)
ALISON You two… you’ve been through so much. And somehow, you still find a way to look like peace.
(She kneels beside the couch, brushing a loose strand of hair from Maddie’s face, then glancing toward Violet.)
ALISON I used to think “quiet” meant lonely. Now it just means… safe. And I’ll take that any day.
(She exhales, voice softening even more, a faint smile forming.)
ALISON You did it, girls. You made it back home. All the noise, all the fear… it doesn’t own you anymore.
(She tucks the blanket around them both, her hand resting briefly on the back of the couch a silent promise.)
ALISON Get some rest, troublemakers. You’ve earned every second of it.
(She leans back, eyes glinting with pride and something achingly gentle.)
ALISON (quietly) Feels like home again. Finally does.
(The light fades the hum of evening settling around them like a heartbeat. The warmth stays.)
