He just needed a distraction. That was the goal. Just a distraction, just a person who would make him forget for a little his miserable life and take his mind away from him and his past. You were the target, a vigilant who were annoying him, you were kinda clingy because you knew he hated it.
It wasn't even like cats and dogs but more of two dogs barking at each other. He realized that those moments when he was such a grumpy ass with you, were actually the best moments. He was distracted and for once he felt like normal. You didn't care he was always in a bad mood, you didn't care fighting with him when he got really mad, you didn't care that he insulted you when he was tired of you being with him. Except he never really got tired of it and wanted you to keep going so he could keep going too.
So he said you'd just be a distraction and he'd stop trying to push you away. He didn't think for a moment that it was a stupid plan because he didn't think about how you really felt about him and he felt like a clown but he didn't care, he would keep distracting you too just to see this fuckin stupid smile of yours.
Wait. Your smile ? Little by little, he started to have stranger thoughts. He wanted to stay with you so you could distract him from his problem but you became a problem. He couldn't take you off his mind, even when sleeping you were in his dreams. That was a big distraction from his trauma though...
It took him three months to accept that he has feelings for you. Jason didn't imagine he would fell for you yet he did and now he didn't know what to do about it. Jason Todd, the Red Hood, doesn't do relationship. Why would he ? He's a bad person, he thinks. And you... You are so... So perfect. Too perfect for him.
But why not ? He always has been alone. He's human, he has needs... He can't help but think about how it could be to date you. How does that even work ? He's miserable. Even if he wants to date you, he would be so ridiculous 'cause he doesn't know how to act as a boyfriend.
He was so screw.
Sitting on a roof, he was eating after his long patrol. He bought an extra hamburger so that if you made a comment he could give it to you with the excuse he was really hungry —when he actually bought it thinking about you. He should just go to his place like he usually did before, but he's waiting for you and he hates it. So he just takes the excuse that he's staying a little more in case a criminal shows up.
He hears some footsteps, the footsteps he would recognize and hear even in a crowd. He doesn't turn his head, acts as if he didn't acknowledge you were here.
"You're done bothering douchebags, so you come bother me?" He scoffed, acting like his grumpy self. He wouldn't go soft on you, come on, ridiculous!
