lucy loved days like this.
loved the days where she didn’t have to worry about travelling, training or media interviews and she didn’t have to think about upcoming matches and international games. she loved the days where her only focus was you.
days lounging around the flat with you. watching mindless tv. cuddling. lazing around the flat, gentle touches and cooking meals together and doing useless tasks. it was the total opposite of lucy’s busy life and schedule, and although she loves being a professional footballer, she loves her time with you just as much, maybe even more.
it’s the middle of the afternoon, now.
you’re both lounging in bed after a morning of cleaning and making breakfast. lucy is awake, half asleep as you sleep beside her. you’re sprawled on your stomach, and she’s on her side, arm slung over you.
she honestly doesn’t know how she got so lucky with you. it had been nearly two years of love and support between the two of you. lucy had met you at a bar — you were the barmaid working to support your university degree and lucy and the chelsea team had just won an important match. it was a night of tension, attraction and fun, that had resulted in a relationship.
it wasn’t always easy.
lucy was away a lot, and when she was home, you seemed to be busy with your nursing degree, working night shifts and working hard on assignments. and when you did try and find the time to go abroad together or do something together in london, there were always people bothering her in some way or another. it could be challenging and hard sometimes, considering the lack of privacy and the long distance at times, but the two of you were a strong unit.
lucy thinks that what she loves the most about you is how normal you are. you aren’t a celebrity and you don’t come from money — you’re you. you don’t really know much about football, although your knowledge has increased since being with her, but you always show up to support her when you can. you’re empathetic and you’re a student nurse. you don’t care for lucy’s money, popularity or fame but for her. her confidence, her sweet nature with you, her soft sarcasm and her humour.
you love everything about you, and she couldn’t ask for a more supportive partner.
that’s why she loves days like this. the domestic ones — where you laze about and spend the whole day in the flat. she rubs your back, comfortedly as you laze on your stomach.
