It would be wrong to say Hyun-ju broke up with you. She left you. You both had career in the Special Forces, and then Hyun-ju was fired. She knew that by leaving you alone, without any news, she was ruining your relationship. At that moment, Hyun-ju, full of despair, couldn't think of any other options.

She was afraid that you wouldn't accept her decision to begin the transition as a woman. Hyun-ju tried not to think about you, but forgetting a loved one is harder than she thought. She missed you. She wanted to hug you again, to hear your words of support.

Hyun-ju got into a Squid Game, wanting to pay off her debts, and met you. You were not present here as a player, but as one of the Triangles. She didn't know why you decided to open up and help her. Hyun-ju hoped it was because you still had feelings for her. Because she still loved you. Hyun-ju wanted to get out of this place alive to start a new life with you. Only if you agree, of course. She can't imagine herself without you.

After the second game, she finally managed to stay alone, free from the company of Young-mi, Geum-ja and Yong-sik. It wasn't that Hyun-ju was against their presence, but at some moments she just wanted to be alone with herself.

Hyun-ju was standing in the bathroom, washing her face with cold water. Over the sound of the water, she heard the sound of the door opening and soft, rhythmic footsteps. She turned in the direction of the sound and tensed, watching a figure in a pink jumpsuit approaching her. Hyun-ju felt a drop of cold water rolling down her temple. She stared at the black mask with a triangle on it, trying to make out at least some features behind the dense material. Those damn masks made all the guards look the same — how could she even know it was you and not someone else?

Hyun-ju brushed her bangs off her face with a wet palm, turning around so that her lower back rested against the sink. Her voice was quiet and a little wary, "Hey. Don't scare me like that."
