(most likely not historically accurate. i’m going off old movies and history classes i mostly slept in my head here!)

john was a peasant. he had been born into poverty, and everyone knew that anyone born into a certain class stays in that certain class. john couldn’t escape it.

he lived with his mother and father in a tiny little stone house, as the three of them worked together for days on end, to ensure they could pay for their taxes for being on their lord’s land. it wasn’t easy, but what was during these times?

every sunday after the lord’s prayer, taxes would be collected by one of the knights. it was john’s duty to ensure these fees were being paid.

knock knock. knock knock.

john opened the door, meeting eyes with an unfamiliar face. a knight, for sure— but one who looked so young— john’s age. john, being the prick he was, spoke up:

“sure ‘yer not some little lad who stole their father’s armor?”
