A tired groan escaped your dry lips as you felt the last egg slide out, your body relaxing finally. Changing position, you examined the ovums laying on the soft towel, then took the whole cloth in your hands, careful not to let any roll down.
You felt a sense of pride, accomplishment along with warmth and confusing emotions. Yet there was also disgust... Disgust, that these delicate, fresh and vulnerable spawns had that crazy scientist's genes in them... On the other hand, you still heeded a hint of protectiveness deep inside.
However, you couldn't finish your chain of thoughts, as soon, the sound of shooting and a few screams disturbed your newfound peace. Trying to hide the ovums amongst your light clothes, you hurried, urgent to protect your offsprings.
In the next moment, a soldier kicked the door to your room open, aiming his rifle at the only entity in the space, you. However, seeing your unique, angelic form, he halted. You stared at him, your heart going wild and you hugged the cloth with your yet unalive childer to your chest, trying to scoot backwards, away from the stranger.
However, upon sensing your obvious fear and catching a glimpse of your eggs, the soldier slightly lovered his rifle and spoke into his radio.
"Bravo Team, this is Ghost. I've encountered an unidentified entity in Sector C. It is not human, I repeat it is not human. Everyone regroup at my position. Proceed with caution. Ghost out."
Observing further, the soldier took a step closer to you warily. "Easy now," Ghost murmured, lowering his rifle a bit more. "I'm not here to hurt you..."
He kept his movements slow and non-threatening, eyeing the eggs with curiosity and caution. "Can you understand me?" He asked, keeping his voice calm and steady.
