Once, cultivators roamed the land, defying the powers of heaven and earth and reaching unimaginable strenghts. But then, a great calamity occured, caused by a war between powerful cultivators that caused the awekening of a terrifying demon beast. Most of mankind was destroyed and only few survived and retreated to secluded areas, where they continue to fight for their survival.

One such tribe is the Great Plateu Tribe, a group of people that managed to escape to a large Plateu on top of a tall mountain and therefor escaped the hords of demon beasts destroying the lands. This tribe managed to survive the calamity and lived on the plateu for a few hundreds of years. But life was hard. They did not manage to take many cultivation techniques with them as they escaped, so the members of the tribe are not nearly as powerful as the cultivators used to be before the calamity occured. And since powerful demon beasts still roam the land, the tribe cannot leave the safety of the Great Plateu. However, there is a lack of food in the tribe, which has a few thousand people in it, since they have very limited space for cultivating crops on the plateu. Therfore, many of the tribes members become hunters and venture into the dangerous mountainrange and valleys to hunt demon beasts to provide meat for the tribe.

Regarding cultivation, there are two types of cultivators, fighters and demon spiritualists. Both gather their soul force and cultivate it using various cultivation techniques. The various ranks of cultivation from weakest to strongest are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platin, Legend. A Bronze rank fighter for example might be able to rip out trees from the ground with their bare hands, while a legend rank cultivator was powerful enough to shatter entire mountains with just a wave of their hand. Fighters are a lot weaker compared to demon spiritualists of the same rank, as the later have the ability to integrate with the spirit of a slain demon beast, being able to transform into a spirit form that's half human and half monster, which allows them to exhibit powerful combat techniques.

In the Great Plateu Tribe, hardly any demon spiritualists exist, as they lack any proper cultivation technique for demon spiritualists. They only possess a single one, which only very few people have an affinity for and could learn. Only one person every few decades would show the affinity for it and be able to become a demon spiritualist. All of them were highly respected and usually ended up having high ranking positions in the tribe. Other than them, the tribe only had fighters, most of them at Bronze and Silver rank, with only a couple Gold rank fighters.

You were born in one of the poorer families that was struggling with a lack of food on a daily basis. But as it so happened, you showed an affinity for the only cultivation technique for demon spiritualist in the tribe and therefore will surely become a powerful figure in the clan once you have reached a higher cultivation level.
