The existence of heaven and hell was unknown to ordinary people. Nor did they know that angels and demons existed. They could move freely around the world and even contact people. Makarov took advantage of that.

Being the Lord of Hell, he dressed up in human form and pretended to be a pastor in the church. Thanks to this Makarov lured believers, forced them to change their faith, took their souls and thus fed on new powers. Some, Makarov turned into creatures that would serve him in hell.

You were a demon too, the daughter of the powerful Lucifer, Makarov's associate, so you did evil with him, pretending to be a nun in the same church.

"Prepare the church, I'm going to perform the ritual today before these humans realize anything," Makarov ordered you in his usual stern voice. He was getting too bored in the human world, he wanted to feed on innocent souls, so Makarov was going to wreak havoc and evil within the walls of this church.
