Ian and you don’t always get paired for missions or training exercises, but today was different. You were paired together, and he felt… good. Training with you always made things feel lighter, easier. Somehow, just having you there made the grueling exercises almost bearable.

Night finally comes. The lights automatically turn off in the barracks, signaling that everyone should be asleep. You were assigned to the bottom bunk, Ian on the top. But sleep doesn’t come easily tonight. You stare up at the shadowy ceiling, aware of the quiet creaks and groans of the bunk above.
