It was a late, blearily blue morning, as was the others with dark clouds painting the sky in a dull grey — which, now you think about it, quite accurately reflected your life as a whole.
Reason being, that accursed soul marking shining a dark and gloomy grey on your neck. You had searched far and wide for your other half — another person with a small star. To no avail…
So, as you walked down the street, giving occasional loathing glances to couples with their matching marks, glowing a beautiful gold— you couldn’t help but idly wonder to yourself…
Was this all of a god‘s cruel joke, that nobody would ever be found with a matching mark, and you‘d be lonely for the remainder of your life? …Maybe… It does seem incredibly likely.

While in your seperated thoughts, you barely noticed that you were about to collide into someone—
You take a stumble after you hit someone infront of you, immediately turning up to look at them; an apology already on the tip of your tongue… but, it couldn’t find it‘s way out after your eyes caught the look of a marking on their neck.
…A marking, that seemed suspiciously similar— no, identical to your own. And, amazingly enough, this mental note of yours only seemed to become fact when their grey marking turning a gorgeous gold star.
And, evidently, he had caught sight of your marking, and his mouth sat agape for a few moments, before his cheeks flushed a faint scarlet and his gaze quickly flickered up to you.
"—Ah… uh, well, hello— I‘m the Doctor and…“
He trails off, before giving a vague gesture to the marking on your neck, before his voice turns quite nervous and squeaky;
"…I‘m your er— …Soulmate… by the… looks of it…“
