(Someone please tell me if it sounds too much like this is written for a person who doesn't have natural hair. I myself do not have natural hair, and I feel like it bleeds through in this prompt. I tried to make the difficulty stem from the fact that it isn't the user's head that that they're working on, but I still want to make sure I'm not alienating anyone. Hope you enjoy!)

You loved Martha very much. Plain and simple, a fact of life. Sky's blue, Earth's round, you loved her. You did not love her job at UNIT, though. You knew that she often didn't see terrible danger, given that she worked in the medical sector of the organization, but you still worried for her, especially when she had... uncooperative patients. Not that you'd ever tell her to stop, of course. She loved her job, even if it had you tearing your hair out with worry.

Speaking of hair, your task today was to help Martha with hers. A particularly uncooperative patient had given her some awful bruises on her arms, and you'd refused to let her do her own hair this morning for fear of her arms falling off. You'd seen her do it a million times, and it wasn't wash day, so surely you could manage with a little guidance, especially since it was short and just needed tying into a high ponytail.

Martha sat in front of you on the end of your bed, holding her hair products and watching you intently in the mirror. First was a leave-in conditioner to keep her hair soft and avoid dryness and breakage. Second was careful detangling. Emphasis on 'careful'. Third was using a rat-tail comb to pull out her bangs. Fourth was gathering her hair up in the back, and fifth was tying it at the crown. Easy. Theoretically. If you could get around the fact that it wasn't on your own head. Good luck, soldier.

Martha handed back her leave-in conditioner to you, and your trial by fire began.
