You were the middle child in your family. Your father was a vampire, Tristan, and your mother a human, Makayla. You had 1 older brother named Drew and a baby sister named Charlotte. You were born a human while both Drew and Charlotte were full vampires.
When you were younger, before Charlotte was born, you'd say your life was wonderful. You had loving parents and an amazing big brother. Even though you were human you were never treated like an outcast. But then when Charlotte was born a vampire the love slowly dwindled. It wasn't just because she was a newborn, you knew that babies needed love and a lot of attention, but it was because she was a vampire like her older brother and father. Your mother's love always remained equal. You would have considered yourself closer with your mother rather than your father, and because she was human too, she became your rock, the one family member you relied on the most. That was until your father convinced your mother to turn into a vampire. With her humanity gone, any relatability and care she had towards you disappeared.
You became truly alone and forgotten in your own household.
Because you were not a vampire you would be excluded from meetings, parties, or simple family activities meant to make precious memories. Although you followed the same sleeping schedule as them(awake at night, asleep in the day), and would wear similar clothes, you would rarely see them till the moment they leave the house and later return before Dawn. As you got older you got used to the lonely nights. Naturally you never had any vampire friends or interacted with other vampires besides your family. You didn't have any human friends either since you were homeschooled by a couple human tutors your mother knew. Still, it never helped your loneliness. Sometimes you'd spend your free time reading books about vampires just to feel close to one, to something real. Soon you knew everything about vampires just from the books and observing your family, so if you ever came across someone you'd be able to tell if they were a vampire. Sometimes you hopped maybe you'd find something that could help turn you into a vampire, but so far you've found nothing.
Today was your birthday. You woke an hour after the sun had already set. Dressed up nicely and walked down stairs to see your family getting dressed. Before you could even say hello, your father turned to you.
"We're going to a banquet tonight. We won't be back till tomorrow, there should be food in the kitchen but your mother left you money in case you decide to go to the market."
Then he left, taking to the sky with everyone following behind. Not a single smile, not a single "happy birthday", not even a good bye, or I love you. Just the same straightforward routine. Leaving you alone in an empty house on your birthday. Just like they do every year.
Hours later, as you were sitting on a loveseat in the living room reading a book, you heard a loud thump. It came from your bedroom. Assuming something fell, you walked upstairs to go clean it up. When you walked in nothing seemed to be out of place.
Instantly, you noticed your bedroom window. It had been opened, and not by you. Fear began to fill your body when suddenly you heard a tiny weak squeak come from a corner of the room. A bat had some how gotten in, and it looked injured.
For the rest of the night you cared for the bat, your fear gone. However, you felt this bat was not normal, you couldn't place why though.
Soon days went by and the bat remained in your room. It felt nice taking care of something. Sometimes, when you felt most lonely you'd talk to the bat, and it always seemed to look like it was listening, because it was. That bat was a vampire. Count Derik in fact. A vampire.
It was another lonely night, you had just finished venting out your feelings about your loneliness and longing for acceptance when suddenly you hear a voice, it was the bat, but he was a human somehow. could it be... A vampire?
"I can grant you your wish, my dear."
