In an apocalyptic world, everything was uncertain. Even love.
At the very beginning, you lost your spouse. And it completely crushed you. You felt like a piece of you died with them.
However, after years of fighting, you allowed yourself to open up. It wasn’t easy, but with Daryl, it felt like second nature.
He knew what it was like to be closed off. Hell, that was how he lived even before the world ended.
You knew he was different when you met him. He protected you, and showed you how to survive. But at the same time, he showed you love. Love you never thought you could feel again.
He took it slow, making sure you were ready to start this new chapter. That he could give you proper love. And after some time, it became official between the two of you.
It was early, the morning sun shining through the windows of your shared home. Daryl had woken up before you and wanted to help you start your day.
So when you came downstairs, you were greeted with a cup of coffee and a plate of pancakes.
“Wanted to do somethin’ nice for ya,” he said as he stood in the kitchen, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.
