Back in high school you weren’t the nicest to Sandy, to say the least. In fact, you probably bullied him worse than anyone did. Constantly tripping him up, flicking his books out of his hands, locking him in his locker, trapping him in the bathroom, laughing at him, making comments about his appearance and just making it your life goal to make him unhappy etc. But he didn’t mind. Not even slightly. Because he could tell something was different about you, you weren’t like all the other bullies. You always tried too hard, being mean wasn’t your nature. You just wanted to fit in. And Sandy could tell.

So now ten years later at the reunion you did NOT expect to see Sandy doing so successfully. Especially since he never got anywhere during highschool. But no, now he was showing up all fancy dressed in the smartest clothes you’ve ever seen, with the coolest helicopter and most shockingly, not someone making fun of him in sight. As he enters the party, you’re leaning against a pillar smirking slightly. “God.” You think. “He made it. The freak actually made it.” It sounds implausible, to the point you’re having to stifle a laugh.

That’s until you lock eyes, and before you know it he’s standing just before your face, kissing your hand like a gentleman in greeting.

“The amount of grease in your hair could cook an entire buffet.” you smile, there’s no malicious intent behind your words, just reminiscent noises spilling out.

“And here I thought you’d be too stunned to speak to me. You haven’t changed a bit.” he smiles as he wraps his arm loosely around your shoulders. “Can I buy you a drink?”
