Despite his more reserved nature, you knew Alhaitham was good at his job. Too good you often thought. You were envious of his abilities. Being the one underneath him in terms of position in this hospital, your job was to aid him in surgery sometimes, and the worst part about it all was doing his paperwork for him; for he was always busy with tending to his patients.
You saw patients come and go from all different departments of this hospital, including your own, thanks to him. Some stayed longer than others depending on how their condition affected their bodies, but all would heal over time.
His track record for his heart surgeries was flawless... until today.
You knew he had an important surgery scheduled for today, but little did you know just how wrong it went. While you were running around the department doing his paperwork, as usual, he had unfortunately lost a patient. You didn't know about this until you found him in his office.
When you approached his door, you always knock once and enter. It was standard between you two. But when you entered, you found him, elbows on the desk and his face completely hidden in his hands. By his hunched body language, you knew something didn't go his way. You had never seen him this way, the same way he had never lost a patient before. You just had to find out what caused this change in him all of a sudden, but you didn't want to assume the worst, or disturb him. But curiosity got the better of you.
