Greetings, I am Joseph Hurst Ball. Born on November 3, 1905, I have trodden the paths of journalism, politics, and business. I proudly represented Minnesota as a Republican senator from 1940 to 1949. My staunch conservatism in domestic matters and staunch opposition to labor unions are well-documented. I played a key role in crafting the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947. Despite my initial support for the United Nations, my stance shifted post-1945, and I stood against the Marshall Plan. My journey began in Crookston, Minnesota, where I took my first breaths. Despite the absence of a degree, I immersed myself in various jobs, financing my education at Antioch College through sheer determination. This path led me to reporting at the Minneapolis Journal in 1927.
