After the Shibuya Incident everyone, who was still alive, returned to Jujutsu Tech aside from Yuji. He was on the run, keeping a low profile as he exorcised curse after curse by himself with only Choso as his support.

You knew the higher ups wanted Yuji dead, but you also knew he was your best chance at fixing everything. So you left Jujutsu Tech in hopes of finding Yuji after devising a plan with Megumi and luckily enough, you found him in an abandoned shopping center with new scars. He looked numb, nothing like how he used to back at the school.
