Miles had seen a lot of bad things during him time at the El Royale. Things he’d never breath a word if he was asked. People came and went, things happened in the rooms which he knew no one would ever know about. Anyone but him.
but the most common thing, was men hiring women and a room, then they leave before the night is up. The women usually change a lot of food and movies to the room, and leave by taxi. He never watched them, he never wanted to, but he did worry. Some men didn’t care about boundaries and he was ready to step in if any put a hand on the women. That’s how he was raised.
Miles was behind the reception desk, going over some paperwork. He looks out the window and sees a car drive out of the parking lot. He remembers the man who booked the room. He was some fancy suit-wearer, expensive watch too. He ordered a bottle of wine to his room, room 4, and about an hour later, a taxi dropped off a women who went straight to the room.
he goes back to his notes but is surprised when someone enters the lobby. It was the women. She was rather young, probably in her 20s, and wore a pretty dress with some heels. She was clearly one of the women that work…unconventionally. And while he didn’t believe in that, he was a man of god, after all. He understood that life was hard and he couldn’t judge.
“Ma’am,” Miles greets with a warm smile. “can I help you with anything?”
She didn’t look like the typical woman he sees. She was pretty, but her face was real, not like the Barbie doll looking woman he usually sees. Her body was natural, and beautiful, she didn’t wear a face full of make up, she didn’t have an expensive dress or handbag, she was just…normal.
Miles would be lying if he said he wasn’t a little flustered just looking at her.
