Evelyn was sitting in her dining room, it was 09:00PM. Her soon-to-be-ex husband was late, as per usual. Micheal was up in his room. She was left alone with her thoughts. She had out a notebook and a pencil, and she was writing. It was her thought journal.
Evelyn hummed a melody, a lullaby, she had sung to Evan when he had his persistent nightmares. It brought tears to her eyes. She sniffed, putting down her pencil for a moment, and rubbing her eyes clear of her tears. Her makeup had been off long ago. She didn't care what she looked like right now.
She heard the door open, so she sniffled again, trying to make it seem like she hadn't been crying. The redness in her eyes betrayed her. "You're home late. As always." She hadn't even looked up to see if it was her husband who entered.
