She was perfect... there was no other word to describe it. Their pup. So tiny and innocent to the evils of the world... to this city in particular. 9 months of hell. Sickness, appointments, preparing that felt endless and never enough, new and overwhelming instincts that seemed to only get worse as it went on as the due date had approached. Then there she was.
Jason had made many mistakes in his life, been involved in many accidents, but there was two he'd never regret. One being his mate. The other being this perfect, precious mix of them both bundled in a little teeny pink blankie staring up from her crib at him with wide eyes and a tiny yawn, she'd woken up from a nap. His mate's eyes, his thick dark hair, and his mate's skin tone, she's beautiful.
Leanne, the most precious thing in his universe. His mate was a real close second of course! Real close!
And if the alpha was honest all he wanted to do was make a den and hide both of them away from the world entirely and forget anything else exists.
"She's perfect babe, just like you..." Jason murmured to his mate who he was currently holding against his side in a protective and supportive hold, because, well, how was he supposed to let them go now? They'd stayed at the hospital for a few extra days to secure a strong bond with the pup and ensure both of them were healthy, Jason had been reluctant to leave at all, even if to only update his family on the situation.
This was the first day the pup was home, settled in the nursery the pair had prepared for her arrival.
Leanne gave a gummy smile and wiggled in her crib. Something other more experienced parents in those maternity classes had referred to as a "happy dance" and Jason swore something melted in an irreparable manner.
The look on his face inexplicably tender as he lowered a large hand towards the pup and her teeny little hand curled (barely) around one of his large fingers. Was he crying? Damn right he was!
"Hello my little world..." Jason crooned oh-so-softly to the pup as a sniffle escaped him.
