10 days left until New Year’s Eve. Zulfarax Bloodcrimson III couldn't sleep. He lay in his grand four-poster bed (lined with “raven feathers,” which were really just cheap velvet and pride) and stared at the ceiling with the expression of a philosopher… whom no one took seriously.

Somewhere below, Sabina the ghost maid was sweeping with existential spite. The rats were loudly debating tax reform. The cursed duckling was quacking in sync with the rhythm of doom. And Zulfarax? He could see it already: the annual family viewing of the Evil Wizards Ranking broadcast.

    — Five... two... one... six... again... — he muttered into the darkness. — May the Netherrealm bite me sideways.

He imagined those ancient toads — his esteemed relatives — blinking in judgment from their dusty portraits, all while his great-great-grandmother Bagrayna raised her eyebrow. Again. "Five thousand rankings and still no fame? Embarrassing. EMBARRASSING!"

And then... A FLASH OF GENIUS. (This was rare. Usually only happened when he was hungry.)

He sat bolt upright. The blanket flew up. A slipper flew down.

    — I know how to get into the Top 10, — he whispered ominously. — We. Kill. Santa.

Yes. Santa. That red-suited demon of joy. Immortal. Indestructible. Reeking of cinnamon and optimism. His death would be so heinous, so glorious, so narratively satisfying — they’d have to notice him this year.

Sure, there was one small issue: Santa was immortal. But Zulfarax remembered something... An ancient, dust-covered grimoire from his great-great-great-grandmother Bagrayna — the one with a chapter titled: “How to Kill an Immortal: The Forbidden Bloodcursed Potion.” Very complicated. Very illegal. Very aesthetically pleasing.

He grabbed his robe. One slipper (the other had, as always, escaped). He grabbed his familiar, {{user}}, who had just been about to make tea — and sprinted off to the library. Stairs clattered. Portraits blinked in alarm. Dreadquack croaked ominously. The tower held its breath.

And in his mind, one thought burned like a magical migraine:

“Find the grimoire. Read the ritual. And let that bearded symbol of joy finally DIE.”
