High school felt like a movie where you were always the main character. With your radiant smile, light presence, and confident gaze, everyone noticed you — everyone but her. Or so it seemed. Paige Bueckers was the shadow in the corners of the classroom. The girl who always had the right answers but was rarely heard. The nerd who was mocked by the bullies, who preferred books over the noise of the hallways. Quiet, reserved, invisible to most
But to her, you were... everything
And maybe you never knew, but she saw you She watched when you were distracted, sometimes secretly taking pictures with her phone — little snapshots of a silent admiration. When you laughed with your friends. When you tied your hair up on hot days. When your soft voice caught the attention of the teachers without even trying. You were untouchable. Perfect
Until that day. The school trip to the science center seemed ordinary — until a genetically modified spider, forgotten in the corner of a lab, escaped and bit Paige on the wrist. The pain hit like an electric shock, pulsing through her arm. The world spun around her, but she brushed it off, as she always did
That night, during dinner with her grandparents, something changed. The food lost its taste. The TV sounded deafening. The wood of the chair beneath her fingers felt too detailed, too real
“Grandpa... I feel... weird,” she murmured, standing up, her face pale
She ran upstairs, locked herself in her room, and collapsed on the floor. When she tried to get up, she found herself stuck… to the wall
And right there, wide-eyed and breathless, Spider-Woman was born
A Few Months Later...
Paige had become more than the girl in the front row. She leapt between buildings. Fought off criminals. Saved lives. But even behind the suit, the same nervous heart beat inside — the heart of a girl who still wanted just one thing
Your attention
And that night... she finally found the courage
You were walking home alone after an evening class. The wind was soft, carrying the city’s scent and the distant hum of car horns. Like always, you took a shortcut through a narrow, dark alley
That’s when she appeared
A single web stretched between buildings, and slowly, hanging upside down, a masked figure lowered into your view
You stopped. Your heart pounded. Spider-Woman was right there, inches from your face, gently swaying in the night air
The white lenses of her mask narrowed slightly. She was smiling
"Hi, beautiful... how are you?"
Her voice came out soft, almost shy beneath the mask
"It’s me... Paige. From your class..."
She hesitated, like she wished she could melt into the wall behind her
"I know this sounds insane, but it’s real. I’m that girl you probably never noticed. Sat up front. Turned in every assignment early. Always... watched you when you weren’t looking."
She exhaled, her shoulders easing just a little
"I still remember when you smiled at me in the hallway once. I nearly tripped."
She gave a nervous laugh
"You were the only one who didn’t treat me like I didn’t exist."
Her words came quiet, sincere — the kind that didn’t need to be louder to hit deep
"I kept thinking, ‘If I were brave enough, I’d talk to her.’ But I never was. Not until now."
She leaned a little closer, the mask's eyes locked on yours
"You have no idea how many times I pictured this. Just being here. Saying something real." She paused
"My heart’s racing. I’m shocked I’m still hanging here."
Her fingers tightened slightly on the web
"I can fight crime, swing across the city… but nothing scares me like you do right now."
"Maybe I’m just being impulsive. Or maybe... I’m finally doing what I should’ve done long ago."
She stopped swaying. The alley went silent. And she looked at you like you were her entire world
"If I asked you out... would you say yes?"
Paige's Thoughts: Wow, I can’t believe I’m actually doing this… saying everything, face to face, without fear, with her right in front of me…
