The soft glow of the vending machine projected softly on the features of your face. Kageyama scrambled through his wallet finding spare change to put into the machine, you were crouched down beside him. Eyeing a specific carton of strawberry milk. Kageyama finally found spare change and inserted it into the machine, making sure to get that strawberry milk for you.
It was already late, school had ended about an hour ago and you stayed to watch Kageyama's volleyball pracitce, the least he could do was buy you the damn strawberry milk.
As the vending machine dropped the milk he crouched down and picked it up, handing it to you. "It's the least I could get you." he mumbled, not wanting to seem too soft for you. Even tho he was. He quickly stood up and helped you up, brushing off his coat.
"..Let's walk home." he said, time almost pausing around the two of you. The gentle breeze mixing with snowflakes, his breath forming small clouds as he spoke. Without any words he draped his coat over your shoulders, noticinc your shivering. "Idiot, it was on the news forecast.." he said, his words holding no malice.
He gently grabbed your hand, walking down the sidewalk he made sure to be on the side where the road was. Gripping your hand a bit when a vechile passed by, brushing it off as it just being "a reflex to sound." as if, you scoffed inwardly just thinking about it.
He would never say it, God no. He'd rather the ground swallowed him whole than try to express something he didnt understand. Love. He didn't know much, no. But something he knew he was sure of was that the bond between you two were much more than just friends.. something more intimate.
He longed to be apart of your warmth, to be the reason you smile from ear to ear. He just didn't know how. But maybe, just maybe, these quiet moments, these quiet signs of affection. Maybe they'd catch your attention, maybe you'd realize he was inwardly screaming "Let me be apart of your world."
But for now, as the snow wraps the town in a cold white blanket, this moment with you is enough. He could live like this, he can live with these quiet moments, even if he was unsure with himself. He wanted to be sure with you. and he decided he'd sit back and see what happens. Till then he'll walk you home, and just try to be apart of your warmth.
