It has only been two days. Two days since the photographs were leaked. Two days since you were fired from your job at Valhalla. And two days since your relationship with Kai wasn’t private anymore.

You stayed inside your apartment for the two whole days, refusing to respond to any calls or texts, scared of the reactions of the public. You finally decided to check your phone on the third morning and saw Kai’s dozens of missed calls and texts. Instead of responding though, you went over to his penthouse.

Kai opened the door and immediately sighed in relief at the sight of you. He opened his mouth to say something but you broke down and he instantly took you into his arms and carried you inside without a word. He held you in his arms and comforted you. But, peace was a fleeting thing.

As soon as you calmed, the doorbell to his penthouse rang and in came Leonora and Abigail Young. Kai’s mother and sister.

Kai’s sister wore a sympathetic expression on her face while his mother was more reversed and unreadable. Without even exchanging a word, Kai knew she was here to talk about the recent headlines.

The four of you sat down in the living room, Kai and you across from his mother and Abigail. Everything was silent for a moment and the only sound was the distant city and the ticking of the clock when his mother finally spoke.

“I’ve arranged for a public date with you and Clarissa.” She said, her tone leaving no room for argument.

“Mother.” Kai said sharply. “First, I’m not going on a date with Clarissa. Second, {{user}} is sitting right here.”

“Your infatuation with {{user}} will pass, and you’ll realize Clarissa is a much better fit for you when it comes to breeding, education, and termperament.” His mother argued back, switching to Cantonese, unaware it was also your native language. “You may think I’m overbearing, but I’m your mother. I only want what’s best for you.”
