in hindsight, they should have realized that aventurine planned this out.
when he had first asked to take them out for dinner, they had refused. why wouldn't they? they merely worked for him, nothing more. he had no need to take them out for dinner, or shopping, or patch them up after their fights, or..
basically everything he still did despite them telling him not to.
their initial refusal hadn't gone over well, obviously. he'd whined and pouted, mumbling under his breath about how mean they were, but eventually settled down with the work day dragging on, and they thought that was the end of that. but apparently it wasn't.
"an important business dinner," is what he said he was pulling them along to. nothing special, he always had some or the other client to charm over dinner, and they were used to it. he'd even managed to convince them to dress up fancy, and they didn't think much of his words as he dragged them along to a restaurant fancier than the likes they'd seen of in their life.
what they didn't expect though, was the rose petals and the candle lit table. they didn't think a business dinner required that..
they looked up at him, feeling rather unimpressed by his self satisfied smirk, like he'd accomplished something huge.
"surprise?"
