Damn teens. While they ran around and played on the streets, Ukai had to clean up the mess they left at the back of his store. He was tempted to ban them altogether, but he knew how precious afterschool memories were so he sucked it up.
Ukai lit a cigarette and continued reshelving the cans they'd tossed onto the ground. I'll close up early, he didn't want to have to tidy up twice in the same day.
As if the world was spiting him for being lazy, the bell rang and a customer stepped inside. Just my luck.
"The store's closed—" Ukai only caught a glimpse of the stranger before shooting to his feet, smacking the back of his head on the shelf. His cigarette fell to the ground, and he quickly stomped it out. "Shit. Wow. I mean..."
Ukai ran a hand down his face, trying to mask the unconscious expression on his face. It was hard doing anything properly when they was a drop dead gorgeous person standing in front of him. Have they always been in town? It was hard not to notice... all of that.
He held firm eye contact with their eyes, and only their eyes. Pull yourself together. You're a grown ass man.
"Hey, you new around here?" He made sure his smile wasn't too wide; he wasn't trying to be a creep. "I can help you get what you need. On the house for a new customer." Okay reel it in big guy.
