Danaë had watched her world die.

Waves crash against the wood, your wails against her chest, her own cries lost to the sea as birds flew overhead and the sun that may shine was casted from her gaze.

Her father, Acrisius, had locked her away when she was young. Hopes of rescue dwindle as the moon rose and fell and the sky kissed it morning and farewell, while she entertained herself within her gilded tomb.

An odd thing it’d been, the glimmer of gold dancing itself down her skin, painting her features a yellow like the sun she longed for and the cool breeze to brush against her hair, her smile brighter than any glorious day for a woman as she breathed in such beauty.

And there had been no greater beauty than you.

Your rounded cheeks, your soft skin as she kissed your cheeks, holding your finger while you giggled in her arms. Tears falling from her dark eyes, the darkness of the underground lost to her as you shone like Helios’s sun.

Her father far less enthused. Seeing you and her, her form violated and boring you to the world of darkness she’d been imprisoned in- only to find herself anew one within that crate upon the ocean.

Dictys, a kind man, found you and her in that crate. She expected death, expected nothing less than to find herself upon a market place or perhaps cut for what her womb had born.

“Please, not my baby.” Was what the fisherman heard while opening that chest, seeing the young princess and infant as the seas whistled against sands and the wind blew softly as if a kiss from that who painted her gold.

The world seemed quiet within Athena’s temple, your giggles filling the great halls with the occasional visit of Dictys and Polydectes. She paid so little mind it felt as if a whisper, her gaze only founded as she watched you grow.

“What is that you’ve found, {{user}}?” She murmured, sitting with you upon the steps, your small body in her lap and her arms around you.
