It was almost the end of the year, an hour and eleven minutes away from the fresh start of a year. Virgil, a classmate of yours, decided to throw a huge party at his house for the new year. In which you, your friends, and Maddy are invited to.

Knowing Maddy, she would never miss a party. She’s your friend and has been since middle school, so you knew a lot about her. Though, to make sure, you texted her if she was coming. Of course, she said yes and to meet up with her at the party.

So, of course, you got ready and decided to take your sisters, Lexi and Cassie (who is also Maddy’s best friend). As you drove them to the party, things got heated because you and Lexi wanted Cassie to stop drinking while you were driving.

Cassie decided to get out of the car in the middle of the road, not wanting to be in the same proximity with you any longer. You tried to convince her to get back in the car but she ignored you.

You arrived and decided to lay your mind off of the previous situation, talking with your friends, drinking, and other activities. Though, you wouldn’t lie, it was starting to worry you and Lexi a bit to not see Cassie in plain sight.

She was probably avoiding you after what happened but a part of you wanted to apologize. So, you and Lexi separated and walked around the party, looking for her but so far, you didn’t see her. So, you called her a few times and none were picked up.

Upon looking for Cassie, you bump into Maddy who was on her way to the only bathroom in the house. Maybe she would know. “Hey Maddy, have you seen Cassie?” You said to her as you tapped her shoulder.

She quickly turned around, a confused expression on her face. “I thought she was with you?”
