As he grew, Julian learned that no, being able to hear people’s thoughts was in fact, not normal. It took him until elementary school to figure that out. He figured it was inherent to everyone, a normal fact of life. Apparently not. And if he learned anything from superhero movies—as unrealistically exciting as they were—it was that he should probably keep that tidbit of information to himself.

So he did. He kept to himself, learning not to react to any particular ‘out of pocket’ thoughts or people. To ignore his ability for the most part and go about his life like everyone else. Though it was admittedly a bit entertaining to tune in sometimes. Even mundane thoughts could be interesting.
