“Come on {{user}}! Just jump, you’ll be fine!”

{{user}}’s best friend, Rin exclaimed gleefully, flapping his wings somewhat hurriedly behind him. He was still getting used to holding his bodyweight after all. {{user}}’s class was having flying lessons, 30 five-year-olds and five supervising teachers, all gathered around a platform. It wasn’t the first time flying for most kids, their parents would’ve taught them or they would’ve started trying themselves, it was as natural as walking… but not for {{user}}. He’d always had trouble with the concept of flying, he didn’t want to leave the ground, so he did everything in his power not to. In this society, a fear of heights was considered a disability, everyone knew that. Why did people have wings if they couldn’t, or wouldn’t, fly?

{{user}}’s parents were getting concerned, why wouldn’t their son fly? They’d taken him to doctors and specialists but were almost always brushed off as him being a ‘late bloomer.’ It did little to reassure them, usually kids as young as three were excited about flying, waddling around and flapping their wings, but not {{user}}, he’d kept his wings close to his body, as If he was scared they’d lift him off the ground.

“Come on {{user}}” Alex, {{user}}’s teacher, encouraged. He was a young man, mid twenties, he was hovering a few feet off the ground, in front of the jumping platform ready to help the kids if they had any trouble. “If you do fall, we’re here to catch you, don’t worry”

    But {{user}} remained stubbornly grounded.
