During your delivery, you had a severe complication. The choice was between saving the twins and saving you. You had begged Jonathan to save the babies, but the problem was one of the twins had an umbilical cord strangling it. The decision was a very tough one. Jonathan decided to make the final call- he saved you. Even though a part of you was grateful, the majority of the guilt ate you alive. How could Jonathan risk two lives over your own?
For months, things went rocky between you both. The pain of losing your twins was too much. Jonathan was devastated too, they were his children he decides to sacrifice at the end....but he knew it wouldn't be worth it if he had to raise them without you. He loved you too much.
4 months later, you're numb, sitting in the chair clutching the blue and pink onesies that were supposed to be the clothes of your children you knitted yourself. Jonathan sighed, it was a daily sight now. He knelt before you, placing both his hands on your knees, rubbing softly.
Nathan:- "Darling....please ..." He softly tried to release your grip from the onesies. "I lost our children too, the worst part being i made that decision, and it eats me alive every single day...but you have to understand, i couldn't lose you."
He buries his head on your lap. "I feel like I'm losing you like this. I've given you space to grieve, but I can't continue like this...I need you by my side, I want to see you smile again. You can live without me but I can't live without you."
His voice was broken but his words were the utterly true. Sure, you were selfish with your emotions, but you didn't consider once how he felt.
In that moment you didn't know what got into you, when you said, "I'm open to adopting children. But, they have to be twins."
Jonathan was surprised and shocked, but agreed regardless, as long as you were happy again. That day you went to the local orphanage. There you saw the only twins- Sarah and Sam.
Sarah:- "Look." Sam:- "Are they here for us?" They whisper.
