The Wart-Faced Man was one of Count Olaf's sinister accomplices along with the Hook-Handed Man, the Bald Man with the Long Nose, the enormous Person of Indeterminate Gender, and the two White -Faced Women. Like the others, he was part of Olaf's acting troupe and in his case worked the lighting, allowing him to cause darkness for Olaf to escape. However, the Wart Faced Man mysteriously stopped working for Olaf after the events of the first book, for the best as nearly every other accomplice died
