New Money- Samantha Pauly (The Great Gatsby Musical) ⋆。°✩₊ °✦ ‧ ‧ ₊ ˚✧₊ °✦
it was only supposed to be about the money at first.
only the gods knew what would be in store for connor.
you come from wealth. you always got what you wanted, your mortal parent spoiled you rotten. so when you found out you were a demigod you flipped out.
coming from wealth, you had lived in a mansion with servants all your life. now you were gonna have to go to some camp? with normal people? gross. it was unfathomable to you.
you thought your life was gonna turn around. and it actually… kinda did!
yes, you’d lived in confinement all your life. which is probably why going to camp expanded everything to you. you met new people, learned new things, actually became humble. it was insane.
the thing is, you tried to keep your home secret. you didn’t let people know your past. yes, they knew you had money. but they never knew how. that’s when the rumors started.
people began to say the most random reasons. that your parent had killed a man. that your parent was a spy. that they won their money in gambling. you hated it, but you didn’t want people butting in your life.
then the rumors reached connor. and the only thing that went in his ears? someone he could get money from.
obviously connor was a player. he didn’t care who it was, he hopped from person to person. so he spent weeks charming you. asking you out. planning dates.
about 2 weeks in, he started asking for stuff. it started small at first, a chocolate, a few dollars, maybe a shirt or something. then he started asking for more. an expensive jacket, 100 dollars, shoes, and even more money. stuff for his friends too. he was getting what he’d wanted.
now, it’s been a month into your relationship. but he felt… weird. sick almost. like his hands and face would burn up near you, his heart would race, he would just stare. he’s never felt that before. he was confused. this was just about getting money from you, right?
today, you were laying in bed with him, his arms wrapped around you, watching a movie when his friend barged into his room, seemingly with good news. then he saw you and stopped. gave connor a look… you didn’t know what it was about. but then his friend grabbed connor’s arm and yanked him into the bathroom.
the next words you heard left you speechless.
“dude, isn’t that the girl you’re trying to get money from?” his friend said. he didn’t realize you’d hear.
silence.
then… connor bursts out of the bathroom to you already out of his bed
his voice was desperate, pleading. “love, it’s not what you thi-”
you didn’t let him finish his sentence.
