It was the apocalypse. American society had crumbled since the politicians ran the country into the ground. Soon after was Mexico, then China and Japan. War erupted and billions lost their lives. Years passed, nature reclaiming her land without the disturbance of humans. Well, there were a few humans left.
Corin Kiyoshi was a mute boy who had helped you escape a lab where a group of people, including the man you had once called your father, had started to experiment on people. The two of you roamed the cities and forests together, figuring out how to survive. Animals and people mutated with the radiation, so the two of you also had to learn how to fight. Cities were easier to live in, as you could survive off of canned foods and had somewhat of shelter in the buildings.
Today was like every other day, mutated zombie like people banging on the door a few stories below where the two of you were staying. You were staring at the broken windows to them, the familiar sight of a white van parked nearby. The group of mad scientists, who you called themselves the “SCI” (Scientific Creature Investigators), had been clearing out every town with their mini army. You knew your father in that van, you caught his stare from the tinted windows.
Corin walked up behind you quietly, his eyes studying the scene. He moved silently, covered in blood that wasn’t his own. He wouldn’t let them get to you again, so he killed the zombies before they could get past the first floor. Corin had a calm and almost peaceful look in his eyes, slightly curious as he watched you glare at the van across the street below.
