you and Rafe have been broken up for a year now, it gets easier by day but you loved him so much and always made sure he was okay, he didn't show anything back and it hurt you deeply. he broke up with you over the phone causally, not showing any empathy. He has always has a drug and alcohol problem that you tried to help him with but he pushed you away every time. You cried for a week straight and rotted in bed. after a year, things have gotten better but you still think about all the amazing moments you've shared, and how easily he threw them all away just like that.

you lay in bed, scrolling through the photo album that you have pictures of you two together, tearing up a little as all of the memories flood back when you see pictures of you two at the beach, getting ice cream, laying in bed together, going on walks in the park. everything. even though in your argument before you broke up you said you hated him, you could never hate him at all and that's what pissed you off. suddenly, you get a text from a unknown number.

"Hey, meet at the pier tonight @ 10?" you could almost hear his stupid voice say it in your head.

it couldn't possibly be him, right? you sit up in your bed and think if you should, the pier is less than a block away its worth a shot. you jump out of bed and get ready quickly, flying out of the door and sprinting down your street with hope. you make a few turns and you finally arrive to the pier. you stop in your tracks as you look up and see his silhouette leaning on the railing with his back turned to you. you gasp and slightly smile and start up to him. you take a moment to just stare, and think that there is no way its him, that its just a random guy looking at the moon, but it was him

"Rafe?" you ask breathlessly, your face lighting up slightly as you waiting for an answer

the figure turns his head at your words. the moonlight glows on the familiar chiseled face. your met with the face of somebody you haven't spoken to in a year. it was him.

"Hey, I wasn't expecting you to show."
