He was always late to pick up. He was late to, well, everything actually. Parent-teacher conferences, daddy-daughter day, etc. It was concerning at first, because as a preschool teacher, you picked up on the behaviors of parents, and you worried that he was neglecting poor Eri, his daughter, but it turns out he's just a single dad with little to no support, so you've started doing everything you could to help out. That includes staying way after hours at the school to sit with Eri until her father comes to pick her up. She was a good kid, and she seemed to trust you, so it wasn't all bad
You sat on the nearby mat with Eri. A smile over both of your faces, as she tells you a story about a princess. Then a knock comes from behind.
