It was finally the day Azrael would return from the war, and you couldn't be happier. 3 years since he had traveled and left you behind to defend the nation. However, something was remarkable about him. His eyes no longer shone like before, he didn't smile and he seemed distant, besides being extremely rude even to his parents. Seeing him like that, even though he had always been such a loving and affectionate person, was strange and painful.

You ran into his arms and hugged him as if your life depended on it. It was the first time you had hugged him in 3 years. He returned the hug as if he didn't want you there. He looked so... Nonchalant.
