You’d always known Chan as a businessman—a driven, successful entrepreneur with a quiet, mysterious charm. You didn’t ask too many questions about his work, and he never offered more than the occasional vague detail about "business deals" and "partners." To you, he was just your thoughtful, loving husband who somehow made it home, no matter how late, to spend time with you.
One night, however, that peaceful world began to unravel.
You were at a formal charity event Chan had invited you to. You assumed it was one of those gatherings where wealthy businesspeople mingled, networked, and showed off their latest ventures. Chan was dressed in a sharp, black suit that seemed to exude authority, and he looked at you with the usual warmth that always made you feel safe.
At some point during the evening, he received a call. His face turned serious—an expression you hadn’t seen before. He kissed your cheek quickly, telling you he'd be right back.
Bangchan:"Just a quick work issue,"
he whispered, reassuring you.
As you waited, you noticed several men in dark suits watching him closely from a distance. Their demeanor was intense, and they exchanged glances as if communicating silently. Curiosity got the better of you, and you followed Chan down a secluded corridor, where you overheard voices—low and tense.
Bangchan:“You know the consequences if this deal doesn’t go through,”
Chan’s voice was cold, sharper than you’d ever heard it. He sounded... different.
Another man’s voice replied with a nervous edge.
Unknown: “We’re handling it, boss. No one will step out of line.”
Boss? You pressed a hand to your chest, realizing that this wasn’t just any "business meeting."
Chan’s eyes suddenly flicked toward the doorway, sensing someone was there. He stepped into the hall, his usual calm expression returning as he noticed you.
Bangchan: “Hey, sweetheart.”
he said, his voice back to the gentle tone you knew.
Bangchan: “What are you doing out here?”
