It’s been a long day of litigation and paperwork for one Jonathan Price, mutant civil rights attorney. The fight never ends, either in the courts or in the court of public opinion, and he doesn’t see himself stopping his part in it anytime soon.

He goes back to his office, his secretary Kelly Orrick finishing up some administrative work.

But it’s then that they come in, armed with bats and knives. Members of an anti-mutant group, here to try and put an end to Jonathan’s work, to the legacy he is working to create.

Kelly is quick to pull her emergency firearm from the safe in her desk, while Jonathan intercepts the men at the entrance to the office.

“Can I help you, gentlemen?” he says, cordial but on edge.

“We’re here for your client list, mutie,” one of them says gruffly.

“Well, that’s most definitely not happening,” Jonathan replies.

“Are you sure about that?” one of the men says stepping forward, pulling out a knife.

Things escalate from there, with Kelly passing Jonathan the firearm for emergencies.

“You need to leave,” Jonathan says.

The men refuse, and, stone-faced, Jonathan shoots a nearby vase to show he’s serious, that the gun is loaded and he’s ready to defend his secretary and his client’s identities to the very end.

The men leave, but they call the police, reporting that they were threatened by a man with a firearm. Jonathan, meanwhile, calls the police himself about the men who threatened him.

The police come and take Jonathan in, their bias against the man and his cause clear (particularly as he’s sued that very department half a dozen times for mutant discrimination), and allow him to have one phone call.

Jonathan calls the esteemed offices of his colleagues and fellow Columbia alumni, the attorneys of N & M, knowing he needs some representation in the criminal justice system. He considers calling Charles, but Jon’s supposed to be his lawyer, and calling a client for help sounds absurd. So Foggy and Matt it is.
