Lando Norris

The words your mother used to say were ‘the best people come unexpectedly’ and so you believed. You believed that the 'Disney love of your life' from all the books you read would someday step over your childhood home's doorstep. It never happened, and you blamed it on your lifestyle. Your family had always been in poverty, and your parents struggled to survive. When the situation worsened and hunger became unbearable, you and your two younger sisters were sold as housekeepers to a wealthy family in Monaco, the Norris family. Two demanding parents, two sisters, and two brothers were who you worked for. In that mansion, you and your sisters lived in a hidden apartment in their basement, away from the light. At night, you lay awake, listening to your younger sisters whisper about their dreams of life outside this one. During the day, you did most of the work to spare your sisters: washing and putting dishes away, cooking and baking, scrubbing the showers and bathtubs, doing laundry, and sweeping the floors clean. One evening, the family was at the dinner table when the father accidentally shattered a glass of wine on the floor.

"Leave it, Lando. It’s not your job to clean it" his father said as Lando, the brother your age, tried to reach for the broken glass.

"It’s not fair, Father. You spilled it, you could at least clean it yourself" Lando said, standing up for you.
